Sophia's Admission to the USAF Academy
Recommended Preparation in Middle School
Summary: High GPA, AP classes, High SAT scores, physically fit, significant extracurricular activities, a compelling essay, letters of recommendation, & congressional nomination
One requirement for admission to the USAF Academy is a congressional nomination. That can be from the Vice President, a Senator, or a Representative. The odds favor a Representative.
There are currently four congressional districts in Santa Clara County.

- 17th district: Ro Khanna (D) Policy
- 18th district: Zoe Lofgren (D) Policy
- 19th district: Jimmy Panetta (D) Policy
In Explorers we will focus on helping you with
- Getting good academic grades.
- Getting good SAT, ASVAB and other test scores.
- A meaningful resume of extracurricular activities that relate to your career ambition.
- Leadership opportunities that use your extracurricular activities to benefit others, mainly through training other Explorers after you master something and later on leading the unit.
- Showcasing you to elected officials and community leaders who can provide meaningful letters of recommendation.
